This incidental role in Woods's domestic drama has been enough to create a rush to get hold of the book, with the title's sales rank on Amazon. Speaking in a break between lectures this morning, the author, John Gribbin, said he was "delighted that anyboy's reading my books. I just wish it was one that's still in print. Part of a planned series on subject areas which was cancelled after poor sales, Get a Grip on Physics is an illustrated introduction to modern physics first published in which tells the story of developments in physics since the s, charting the discovery of the four forces of nature, the search for grand unified theories and the beginnings of string theory.
Tiger Woods is absolutely my target audience. He's busy, hasn't got a lot of time, but wants to catch up on what's happening in physics.

Publishers are becoming increasingly familiar with rapid rises in book sales, though the spikes are more often associated with US presidents. Gribbin has yet to see a rise in sales on Amazon. Jun 19, B rated it liked it. An illustrated, high level romp through the history of physics.
Quantum Mechanics and the Participating Observer
Great for the WC as no one topic requires more than a minute or two's attention. Aug 31, Amber rated it really liked it. The illustrations and page layouts in this book are excellent. Not in an education way, necessarily, but in a nice-to-look-at way. May 02, Rebecca rated it really liked it.
Dec 04, Julie rated it it was ok Shelves: , non-fiction , science-and-nature. This seems like a good overview of physics from the early days up until the book was published It's mostly done in short snippets, with brief overviews of various subjects and little bios of important figures. It fried my brain a bit in places quantum mechanics, ouch but I think I exited the book with a better understanding of physics overall. My biggest gripe was that the printing itself contained many errors and in two places, sentences ended at the bottom of the page, and didn't fini This seems like a good overview of physics from the early days up until the book was published My biggest gripe was that the printing itself contained many errors and in two places, sentences ended at the bottom of the page, and didn't finish anywhere - including the last sentence of the book!
It was an interesting choice to print it on brown paper. I really hope they used recycled materials, but it doesn't say that anywhere in the book. I read this as a bathroom book over a long period of time.https://vimefincube.ga
Big Book of Magic Tricks (Dover Books on Magic)
While we all prefer our bathroom books to be bite-sized and light, this book is too much so. Also, the more recent theories string theory, multi-verse concepts, quantum gravity, etc.

I never really like Gribbin, so I'm not sure why I chose this one, but I was once again unimpressed.
An excellent book for an introduction in modern physics.
FRAGMENTS OF SCIENCE:
Totally worth reading it! Maybe with this general understanding you can, sooner, go deeper into a specific subject. Apr 29, Tj rated it liked it Shelves: informative. I followed pretty well until he got to new physics, then he got lost. But a classical model of physics is all most of us need to really understand the world.
